It has been a while since the last post

If you have ever watched Grand Designs it only hints at the level of chaos involved in building a house, hence the delay in adding posts. But we are now less than 2 weeks before moving in so an update on the photos seems in order.

The stairs ahve had glass balustrades added, floors are going down and doors put in frmaes so it feels more and more like a house. We even have hot water courtesy of the sun, the boiler could not be commissioned today as the water was too hot to run for more than a few sec

The chickens get a home

THe half term priority was building a new fox proof area of the garden for the chickens. So we hired a mini digger and Richard, Robert and Emma worked hard all week building their new home, it is a rather large area for 6 chickens but it is a fox proof area of the garden rather than a chicken run.

Front door panel

The front door and panel arrived today. The front door although heavy was not a big problem but the panel for above the door required 6 men to fit, 3 from the joiners and 3 window fitters.

Granite shopping

We went out to matlock this morning to choose the kitchen work surface. An enormous yard full of all sorts of granite many beautiful even if not suitable.

Plastering the ceiling

20 minutes to put the first coat on. 2 plasterers, 2 mates and 4 trestles in a fast dance across the ceiling, impressive to watch, GOOD DAY.
